Ben Oldag - RIP

Dr. Ben Oldag, a long time, very familiar voice on Houston radio, has passed. He will be most familiar from his long-time work on KTRH on garden and farm programs but he started his career on KFRD in Rosenberg and worked also on Armed Forces Radio.

Here's a bio I found at the site of his last employer and a notice about the memorial service.

His voice and smile are undescribably distinct and will forever be missed. He brought joy to everyone who was lucky enough to cross his path.

Dr. Ben has a hotkey on Cedarcide. It says, ask Dr. Ben.

Who's answering?

We can only hope that Dr. Oldag has a God provided hotline to Cedarcide's answer line.... He was truly a blessing to those with questions about their gardens and other AG related topics. His gentle way of handling even the oldest of (non-professional) callers was an inspiration to me when I become impatient with "dottery" folks that some might feel are a waste of time when they stammer and struggle to aske their "important" questions. He was wonderful to them, unlike the person that took his spot on the local radio in Houston. I NEVER heard Dr. Ben become impatient or rude with anyone, and if he did, don't spoil my wonderful memory of him. GOD BLESS you Sir, for all your help through the years and your inspiration on how to behave in all conditions. Most of us miss you, Sir.
