From 1957. The X-99 was launched in May, 1957, just weeks before Gordon McLendon took over rival station KLBS and flipped it to KILT.

The KODABird
The ill-fated KODABird, a traffic helicopter which crashed in October, 1964, taking the life of the pilot and traffic reporter. The rotor froze and the blades snapped off due to a design flaw.

Tim and Bob, of KPRC Radio, were the original instigators of Houston's St. Patrick's Day Parade. The derbies are undoubtedly green, probably the sport coats, too.

Saturday at the Shamrock
From a Houston Post nostalgia clipping. Saturday at the Shamrock was broadcast live on KXYZ, 1320, and the ABC Radio Network.
KTUE
KTUE was not a new station when this special section appeared in the Chronicle, it was upgrading from 5 to 100 watts and moving into new studios in the basement of the Texas State Hotel on Fannin, now the Club Quarters. KTUE was sold the next year (1930) and became KXYZ. In an interview in 1982, John T. Jones, Jr., said that the station actually operated out of a spare room in the basement barber shop of the Hotel.
