J. Kent Hackleman was an early talk show host on KTRH. His granddaughter has this site devoted to him, trying to raise money to digitize 300 audio tapes of his shows. There are some pictures and a little bit of history.
From YouTube, a compilation of historic broadcast videos from KHTV, ca. 1967-85 (one segment is as late as 1992).
J.R. Gonzales' Bayou City History blog in the Chronicle has another radio related post this week with a picture of a couple of paper boys and 7 radio commercials for the Chronicle, believed to date from the late 1960s. He's asked if anybody can identify the announcer. I wasn't around Houston much in that era and there were many voices on the radio I wasn't familiar with. I've entered a guess, anyway.
Give 'em a listen and see if you can help, or just give 'em a listen.
I found this small collection of Houston air checks, including one TV ad for KLOL-FM, at AirChexx.com. Scroll down the page to the Houston listings.
This will be posted on the sidebar under the Radio Links.
